Poster for May

During the weekend of 17th,18th and 19th May (The anniversary of Operation Chastise) we welcome to Scampton our friends from the district council and schools in the Möhnesee district of Germany.
We are welcoming 16 people who will be the guests of The Parish Council, Dambusters Inn, Scampton Schools and Scampton Church. They will be hosted by people in our community.
Scampton Church will be holding this special joint community service at 10.30am on the 19th May.

On Friday 17th May a multi-national remembrance service will be held at the Möhne Dam memorial stone. The service is dedicated to the memory of all military and civilians who perished on the night of 16th/17th May 1943, and during the D Day landings of 6th June 1944. A memorial flame will be lit at Wg Cdr Guy Gibson's resting place in Steenbergen, Netherlands, and passed virtually to the remembrance service at the Möhne Dam, where a candle will be lit. The lighting of that candle will then be passed virtually to Scampton Church, where a third flame will be lit.
The service at Scampton Church will be attended by our German guests and will start at 1.30 pm, with the candle lighting at 1.50pm. Everyone is welcome to these special services.
